DONEGAL TOWN NATIVE Liam Martin was on the scoresheet twice as Sligo Rovers defeated Charlestown Athletic 7-0 in a pre-season friendly this afternoon.
Martin, who returned to the Showgrounds earlier this month having played for Irish League side Ballinamallard, set up the first goal in Mayo for Mikey Place and then added two himself before the break.
Gary Armstrong provided the cross for Martin to make it 2-0 on 38 minutes and after Place bagged a third Sligo goal, former Donegal Town FC striker Martin added a fourth with a close range volley on the stroke of half-time.
Martin was replaced at the interval and Sligo added three further goals in the second half with Jason Hunt, Cathal Carney and Shane McCallion posted further goals for the SSE Airtricity Premier League side.
Meanwhile, former St Catherine’s and current Donegal League Oscar Traynor manager Brian Dorrian from Killybegs has been confirmed as the manager of the Sligo Rovers Under-19’s for the season ahead.
