The summer break is almost over with all energies now focused on next week’s Foyle Cup.
We have four teams participating in the Foyle Cup which starts on Monday next with Letterkenny Rovers at under-10, under-12 and under-19 level while Letterkenny United are also taking part in the under-12 section.
The Derek Plumb managed under-10s are in a group with Ballyraine, St Pats Castlederg, Glentoran, Ballyjamesduff and Oak Athletic and will be based in Leafair, Magee and St Columb’s Park for the first three days.
Letterkenny United under-12s under Benny Blake play Strabane Athletic, Ballymoney and Oliver Plunketts in their group with the matches being played in Strabane, Kildrum and Killea.
Michael Boyle and Brian Gallagher’s Rovers under-12 side who were triumphant at under-11 last year are in a group with Partick Thistle, Coleraine and Ardstraw with two of  the matches being played in Strabane and the other in Clooney West.
Anthony Gormans under-19s have a great opener against Derry City at the Brandywell Showgrounds before taking on Killen Rangers and Ballyjamesduff with those games in Strabane and Dungiven.
All support for the teams would be greatly appreciated with the teams also in action on the Thursday and Friday.
Preseason training got underway under manager Eamonn McConigley for the senior team last night Wednesday with a preseason friendly provisionally scheduled against Enniskillen on Saturday week July 25th.
The draw for the League Cup was made during the week and Rovers have been drawn in a group alongside Derry City, Drumkeen and Swilly Rovers. This competition is expected to be the curtain raiser for the  new season at the end of August.
