Action got underway in the Foyle Cup on Monday last with the club well represented with four sides in action.
The Rovers under-12 side topped their group winning their opening two games. A Joel Gorman goal was enough to beat Scottish side Partick Thistle 1-0 on Monday while Gorman was again on the mark on Tuesday along with Nathan Plumb as Rovers defeated Coleraine 2-1.
The team will be playing in semi final action on Thursday night after completing group action on Wednesday.
The under-10s have had a super tournament at time of going to press with three wins from three matches  to sit top defeating Ballyraine 1-0, St Pats Castlederg 7-0 and Ballyjamesduff 4-0 and were due to finish the group on Wednesday before knockout games commenced on Thursday.
The under-12s United side drew with Strabane 2-2 with the goals coming from Nathan Bonner and Jason Blake while they lost out to Ballymoney 3-1 in their second game.with  Sean McVeigh the scorer.
They were due to finish the group stages on Wednesday against Oliver Plunkett Colts. Manager Benny Blake was delighted that his squad were well kitted out with new strips sponsored by Sod O’Donnell of DHL Freight which was a magnificent gesture which is very much appreciated.
The under-19s (pictured above by Stephen Doherty) lost out to  Derry City 6-2 on Monday evening with goals from Kennedy Boache-Ansah and a Kevin O’Donnell penalty but they bounced back on Tuesday with a fine 2-1 win over Killen Rangers to get them right back into the tournament. Naoise O’Baoill scored both goals and they were due to play Ballyjamesduff on Wednesday.
Fixtures were released for  the new USL season and Eamonn McConigley’s men will commence their campaign with a League Cup trip to play Derry City Reserves on August 30th. Preparations for the new season step up a pace this weekend when they play a preseason friendly against Enniskillen Rangers on Saturday. Time to be confirmed.
The club were delighted to learn of the success of our club secretary Eric White at the FAI communications awards in Sligo last Friday. A noted journalist in his professional life Eric won the prestigious broadcast of the year title which was presented by Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill. Well done Eric.
Club bingo continues in Station House Hotel on Thursday nights at 9pm sharp. Snowball is 1150 euro on 45 numbers or less.
