Letterkenny Rovers advanced to the next round of the SFAI u14 cup on Saturday afternoon when deservedly getting the better of Cavan Shamrocks 5-3 at Leckview Park.
Letterkenny Rovers 5-3 Cavan Shamrocks
Rovers cruised through the game for the majority of the contest and went one up on eight minutes when Nathan Plumb was on hand to fire home from close range after superb work from the lively and industrious Rory Pyper.

Pyper was to the fore again on 13 minutes when he did well to win possession before floating in a teasing cross which was headed home by David Boyle.
Rovers were rampant at this stage and had further chances through Boyle, Jack Dwyer and Joel Gorman to further extend the lead but a combination of good goalkeeping and bad luck meant it was 2-0 at the interval with home netminder killian Gribben almost reduced to the role of a spectator such was Rovers dominance.
The visitors though started the second half the better though and Gribben was called into action to deny Brian Ogene before Gorman came close but saw his side hit the top of the crossbar.
Rovers did get the all important third goal midway through the half when Pyper was brought down in the box by Tim Perkins and Jack Dwyer made no mistake from the spot with a cooly executed effort.

Rovers then made it 4-0 when Gorman hit the target with a trademark finish just two minutes later before Cavan got one back when Enogie Ebikvelevie slotted home from Emmanuel Shetivs cross.
Any hopes of a comeback appeared to have been dashed when Dwyer made it 5-1 again from a Pyper assist although Cavan didnt lie down and two goals in the last 4 minutes from Mark McDermott and Shetiv got it back to 5-3 but in truth a remarkable comeback was never on as Rovers played some of their best football of the season and they could have gone further ahead again when Sean McVeigh came close with a header just over the bar.
Good performance from Rovers who have another big game to look forward too in mid to late November when they travel to play Carrick Rovers who defeated Bonagee at Dry Arch Park.
