Letterkenny U18’s recorded an emphatic victory over Dungannon RFC at Dave Gallaher Park on Saturday in the first round of the Ulster Carpets U18 Cup.

Coach Gordon Curley made numerous changes to the starting 15 and the competition for places resulted in a focused and clinical first half display yielding seven tries.

The pick of the scores was the second try scored by Darragh Toal after great play by the forwards followed by excellent running lines from the backs.
The other scores came from Matthew Faulkner x 2, Joseph Dunleavy x 2, Oisin Toal and Daniel Faulkner.
The second half was a lot more disjointed due to numerous changes and new combinations but Letterkenny defended well and also scored an additional three trys courtesy of Daniel Faulkner, Adam Boal Quinn and Louis Carson.
Dungannon were brave in the extreme but not used to the tempo of the game played by the home side who enjoyed a sharper edge to their forward play thanks to the introduction of James Roulston and Louis Carson from the start.
Aodhan O’Neill also impressed when introduced at half time and Connor Cannon had another fine game at tight head prop.
On a day when getting back to winning ways was the main objective Adam Boal Quinn and Louis Carson were the two players who impressed. Carson got the nod for man of the match with a belligerent display at the breakdown proving that he is now back to his best after injury and will be hard to displace from the back row.
Letterkenny now look forward to welcoming Larne to Dave Gallaher Park on Saturday in the next round of the cup.
