LETTERKENNY ABC flyweight Paddy McShane will be the sole Donegal flag bearer at this year’s Irish Elite Championships.
McShane is the only entrant from Donegal for the Championships which glove off on Friday-week at the National Stadium.
McShane is a four-time Irish champion, but will go through the ropes for the first time in the Elites.
The Letterkenny puncher is joined by three other boxers in the 51kgs class.
Sean Mari from the Monkstown club in Dublin – the defending Irish flyweight champion – is also included.
Padraig Downey from St John Bosco in Belfast and Athy’s Michael Stokes make up the entry.
McShane won the last of his Irish titles in April 2018, defeating Aaron Kirwan-Doyle from The Ballagh in the Junior 1 42kgs final.
McShane also has Boy 3, Junior Cadet and Senior Cadet crowns to his name.
Olympic gold medalist Kellie Harrington and bronze medalist Aidan Walsh have entered for the Elite Championships.
Walsh has indicated that he intends to answer the bell at the Elites, but it remains to be seen whether lightweight queen Harrington will go to the scales or take an extended break following her heroics in Tokyo.
