Forty ladies competed last Tuesday in the Letterkenny Golf Club Competition sponsored by Magees Pharmacy.
Conditions early in the day weren’t great but it did fair up in the evening and indeed most of the winners played later in the day.

The Intermediate Team travelled back to Shandon Park on Saturday but the hosts really excelled with home advantage and unfortunately Captain Eileen and her galant panel of players have come to the end of this particular journey. Congratulations to them for progressing as far as they did winning some excellent victories over formidable adversaries along the way.
At home on the same day the Junior Cup Team hosted Shandon Park. The matches were hard fought and some were very close but the opposition proved too strong on this occasion and so the Junior Cup Team bow out of the competition at this stage. Again well done for advancing as far they did.
Captain Sandra McMonagle brought her Maire O’Donnell team to the seaside on Sunday! They took on Bundoran in the first leg of the Semi Final of this competition. An excellent two and a half matches were secured and Bundoran will travel to Letterkenny for the return fixture in the coming weeks.
The Bank Holiday Re Entry Competition was won by Junior Girls Captain Caoimhe Lafferty with a mighty 47 points.
This score follows on from a plus forty score only a few weeks ago. Terrific shooting Caoimhe keep it up !
The St. Luke’s Hospital Open was played on Bank Holiday Monday and as usual this worthy cause was well supported.
The winner was another of the junior girls Anna Curley with an impressive 44 points leaving her mother Pauline having to settle for 2nd place with a very respectable 39 points.
Claire McGonagle Portsalon won the Gross with 25 gross points and Kay Kelly took 3rd place 36 points (bot).
It’s great to see the junior girls featuring so strongly in the ladies competitions – the ladies branch certainly has a bright looking future ahead!
So the biggest day of the year is upon us! There will be a huge entry in Lady Captain Maura Cavanagh’s Day tomorrow. Best of luck to all the competitors and hopefully all swings and putting strokes are in good order – may the best lady win. Best Wishes to Maura for an enjoyable and memorable day.
Club competition next Tuesday as usual and the Little Angels Open will be on Thursday 16th.
