The Fir Trees Hotel, Strabane was the venue for a top night of Kickboxing showcasing the very best fighters Ireland has to offer.
Donegal had a strong contingent with four lads fighting out of one of Ireland’s longest standing and respected Martial Arts clubs, Letterkenny-based MuayThaiLK / KickboxingLK.
Ryan Fanneran was first to represent the club. His opponent was forced to retire in round two due to sustained leg-kicks.
Rhys Nugent won his fight forcing his opponent into two standing counts in what was a very dominant performance.
Joe McGrinder won a good technical fight landing some very solid knees and kicks.
Aodhan Logue gave an excellent account on his debut but lost on points in a very close fight.
Kyle Canning was also due to fight but his opponent was forced to pull out and a match could not be sourced in time.
Letterkenny’s MuayThaiLK / KickboxingLK was declared the best club on the night with some exceptional performances from some of the best up and coming fighters from the club.
Former Kickboxing World-Champion, Head-Coach and corner-man, Tommy ‘The Ghost’ McCafferty said: “These lads trained hard for this night. “They put in months of training and dedication and by putting in this ground work showed on the night.
“They are a credit to themselves and to the club and testament to the high standards we set at both MuayThaiLK & KickboxingLK.”
MuayThaiLK / KickboxingLK has gained a remarkable history of World, European and Irish title holders as well as having members, both male & female of all ages from beginners up to Black-Belts.
