LETTERKENNY GAELS CONTINUED their excellent home form with another good victory over Buncrana at Pairc na nGael on Saturday with Conor McBrearty hitting 2-4.

The visitors opened brightly with good scores from Caolan McGonagle and Odhran Doherty in the opening two minutes.

[adrotate group=”38″]McBrearty opened the home team’s account in the seventh minute and Gaels captain Brendan O Brien followed soon after with an excellent long range score to level matters.
David Bell responded for the visitors on the quarter hour. Gaels full forward McBrearty who was been closely marshalled by Buncrana’s full-back Garbhan Friel found the net on the 20th minute after good approach play.
Buncrana’s corner-forward Bell responded immediately before Gaels wing back Conor Browne raided up field for another excellent score.
[adrotate group=”42″]McGonagle converted a ’45 on 26 minutes for the visitors before McBrearty pointed another free for the hosts. John Doran put three points between the sides and immediately after this Buncrana centre half-forward Oisín Doherty goaled for the visitors to level matters. McBrearty hit a late point to send Gaels to the interval with a slender half time lead, 1-6 to 1-5.
The visitors opened the second half brightly with a Kevin Treacy point in the opening minutes of the second half.
However the hosts stood firm and Conor McBrearty restoring their lead by the 39th minute. Odhran Doherty levelled matters a minute later. Soon after Gael’s Cormac Cannon won the ball and after an excellent run was impeded in the square and the referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty which McBrearty dispatched to the net.
[adrotate group=”41″]Both defences were now on top before Paddy Doherty and Buncrana’s Treacy exchanged scores. In injury time Mark Hunter neatly dispatched a goal past Buncrana’s Sean Parker to put six points between them.
Again the hosts immediately responded with a second goal from Oisín Doherty as the home team just about held on for a valuable two points The home team gave an excellent team performance while the visitors will be disappointed at giving top of the table Aodh Ruadh a four-point cushion.
