LETTERKENNY 24/7 Triathlon Club members Margaret and Pauric Kelly took part in Ironman 70.3 Dubai event at the weekend.
The Kellys are founder members of the Letterkenny 24/7 club and were ably supported by Letterkenny man Sean McFadden, who is now based in Dubai.
They took part alongside 2,500 participants.
Pauric – who has recently battled back from injury – managed to finish top three in his age category in a highly-competitive field. Pauric finished in 5:11:00.
Margaret, a nominee at the recent Donegal Sports Star Awards, had sand blowing in every direction as she tore around the course like a demon and in the process landed not only a sub five-hour time but also a personal best time of 4:57:39.
Letterkenny 24/7 Club said: “They might well have the club’s most impressive racing passports from around Europe and America, but to their credit, neither is afraid of the rain and the graft required to make these great days possible.
“From a chilly turbo session on a Tuesday to a sub-baked sojourn on the Friday – it’s all about finishing!”
Try a Tri/Super Sprint (April 26th)
The Try-a-Tri bookings are now up and running and what a week it’s been. The event is already over 40 per cent booked. While interest is always high even by usual standards this is way ahead.
The club has published a beginners training on the website and will be posting each week’s plan through the Facebook page also.
It’s for anyone that wants to give it a shot: take the chance and sign-up.
Places are strictly limited and once sold-out that’s it, so get your entry early; there’s plenty of time to train. For more on all races visit www.letterkenny247.com/ or our Facebook page – Letterkenny Triathlonclub.
Glenmore
Best of luck to all ‘boys and girls’ taking to the start line in the Glenmore 10 miler on Sunday. A well-supported event, it’s a great benchmark for the work done since Christmas with most up and at it again now.
