Letterkenny AC man David Smith was the recipient of a ‘Star Award’ on Saturday night at the Athletics Ireland Juvenile Star Awards in Tullamore.
The awards ceremony was held in the Tullamore Court Hotel and Smith picked up the Star Award for Donegal.
One athlete per county was given a ‘Star Award’ and Smith scooped the Donegal gong.
This was recognition for his achievements during 2016, primarily winning three individual national titles: U15 Indoor 800m, U15 Outdoor 800m and U15 Outdoor Combined Events.
This was the first time an LAC athlete received the Star Award for Donegal
since 2005.
The Guest of honour on the night was the President of European Athletics, Svein Arne Hansen from Norway.
