Several of Letterkenny Athletic Club’s large group of talented young runners put on highly creditable performances in the weekend’s National Senior Track and Field Championship at the Morton Stadium, Santry.
Niamh Kelly clocked 19.25 in the 5000m and was the 3rd Under 23 finisher. In-form Conor Gallagher’s time for 5000m was 16.16. Eoin Hughes also had an excellent run and finished in 16.21.
These 3 young runners will have gained valuable experience through competing with Ireland’s top athletes.
Brendan Delap was the only LAC runner in Tuesday evening’s Burtonport Festival 5K. Brendan won the M60 category in a time of 21.50. The race winner was City of Derry’s Roy McGilloway, 16.07.
The leading LAC runner in Saturday’s Letterkenny Parkrun was Mark McFadden, whose time of 22.16 saw him finish 2nd in the M45 category. Richard Raymond made a fine return after a lay off due to injury. He was also 2nd in his category- M60- in 23.49. Â
James McBride was the leading M65 runner in 26.15. Peter McLean was 4th in the M60 category in 28.49. Peter now has just  12 more to go to reach the Century mark for Parkruns completed.
The first runner home was Philip O’Hare in 19.06.Â
