A LAST-DITCH goal from Conor Catterson saw Naomh Padraig, Lifford steal a 1-12 to 2-8 derby win against St Mary’s in Convoy on Saturday in the AllSportsStore.Com All-County League Division 4.
Two first-half goals by Anthony Browne – one from a penalty – had St Mary’s in command, with a 2-3 to 0-5 half-time lead.
Browne might have had another goal, but Naomh Padraig goalkeeper Paul Given did well to save.
Cianan Doherty and Kevin McBrearty helped keep Naomh Padraig in touch and the border outfit scored five-in-a-row, with Darren Gillespie and McBrearty doing the bulk of the scoring, to lead.
Emmett Kelly, Michael Ayton and Peter Blake had St Mary’s on their way to a win, but they were denied at the death when Catterson riffled past Conor Cairns for the winner.
Na Rossa didn’t lead for 60 minutes in Castlefin, but the first time they led was with what proved to be the match-winning score from JP McCready as they defeated Robert Emmets 0-8 to 1-4.
An early goal by John Hunter had Robert Emmets in front 1-2 to 0-3 at half-time.
With Gary McNulty (2), Thomas McCusker and Sean Coyle getting points, they held that edge, only for Na Rossa to bite back in the second half.
Robert Emmets played much of the second half with only 14 men after Marcus Curran was shown a second yellow card three minutes into the second half.
McCready was only introduced as a half-time sub, but he landed four of Na Rossa’s five second-half scores as they took a dramatic win.
Red Hughs were given a rude awakening in their first game back down in Division 4 as Moville defeated them 0-15 to 0-6 at Carrick Field on Sunday.
Moville led 0-10 to 0-6 at half-time and kept Red Hughs scoreless in the second half.
Stephen McMenamin, David Gallen and a brace each by Calvin Bradley and Damien Browne gave Red Hughs hope, but they faded in part two.
Malachy McDermott and Ciaran Diver scored five points each for the winners while former Donegal Under-21 Danny Murphy scored two points with Jack Keys, John McGeady and Josh Laffery on target.
Fergal Doherty led the charge with 1-7 as Carndonagh defeated Pettigo 1-21 to 0-07 in Pettigo today.
Carndonagh led 0-13 to 0-2 at half-time.
The Inishowen men showed no signs of fatigue from the long journey as they burst from the blocks to establish an 11-point interval lead.
Doherty finished to the net in the second half to earn the away side a 17-point win on a day when they had seven different players on the mark with four points apiece by Matthew McLaughlin and Aaron McCarron.
Paddy Nelson helped himself to a brace with Richard Cunningham, Eoghan Kelly, Dominic Doherty and Ryan Kelly all got in on the act.
