CARNDONAGH’S Labhaoise Clarke boxes for a European Junior bronze medal in Hungary this afternoon.
Bantamweight Clarke, who boxes out of her native Carndonagh ABC, comes up against Ulabzsislave Kalaskova from Belarus in the 54kgs quarter-final.
Clarke is one of four Irish boxers in action with Saoirse Dignam on at 69kgs in the Youths and Katelyn Phelan (63kgs) and Lauryn Sinclair (70kgs) taking their place, like Clarke, in the Junior quarter-finals.
Ireland had a mixed bag of results on day one. In the European Youths, Saidbh Greene (54kgs) and Shannon Edge (60kgs) lost out., but in the Juniors there were wins for Chloe Callender (46kgs) and Shauna O’Callaghan (60kgs).
Seven-time Irish champion Clarke is one of 18 Irish boxers who’ll be on the canvas of the Sportshall in Csokonai, Keszethely.
