KILLYBEGS ENJOYED THEIR victory over Naomh Columba in the Southern Regional Board Under-16 Division 1 title in Ardara this evening.
Killybegs 0-11 Naomh Columba 0-5
The side from Fintra – who had already won the league at the same bracket – were very well organised and will now take on MacCumhaill’s in the last four of the county, with Naomh Columba facing a St Eunan’s team who this week won the Northern section.
Naomh Columba have been making some waves at underage level but they were well beaten under the lights, despite Lanty Molloy shooting them in front against the wind.
Once Killybegs got going though, they were impressive. Following that early concession they spun off five points on the bounce and went in 0-7 to 0-2 ahead at half-time.
[adrotate group=”53″]Ross Connelly, Karl Gallagher Odhran McGuinness and Ryan Cunningham were all on the mark in that first half, with Dillon Kelly replying for Naomh Columba.
Aaron Doherty of Naomh Columba opened the second half scoring but Killybegs maintained their five-point lead when McGuinness scored again.
[adrotate group=”38″]Connelly, who impressed all evening, and Michael Callaghan added further Killybegs scores. Naomh Columba didn’t reach the higher gears but were unfortunate to see Molloy hit the crossbar at the bitter end.
