CONOR DOHERTY WAS a second half substitute for Dundalk Institute of Technology in their Trench Cup win on Saturday.
The Kilcar native and his team overcame a Wateford Institute of Technology side – that defeated Letterkenny Institute of Technology in the semi-final – on a 1-14 to 1-8 scoreline.
Oisin McConville and Shane Lennon’s Dundalk team enjoyed a comprehensive 2-16 to 0-2 victory over Liverpool Hope in the semi-final on Friday.
In the final, five points from Daniel ‘Yankee’ McKenna were vital, as was 1-1 from Donal Meegan also played its part. Dundalk were 1-8 to 1-4 in front at half-time.
Doherty is part of the Donegal Under-21 set-up this year under Declan Bonner and has been carrying a groin injury in recent weeks before making his mark for Dundalk IT at the final played at University of Ulster Jordanstown.
