St. Michael’s ended their league campaign yesterday evening with a good victory over neighbours Glenswilly.
St. Michael’s 3-12 Glenswilly 1-10
Andrew Kelly hit 2-4 for the Bridge men.
It was the visitors who went ahead with points from Ciaran Bonner and Donnacha Gallagher before St. Michael’s scored the first of two quick fire goals which put them into the lead.
The first came from an unlikely source with Ciaran ‘Rock’ Gallagher finishing off a good move to the back of the net.
Kelly then scored a second goal to put St. Michael’s in command but to their credit Glenswilly came back with points from Caolan Kelly, a goal from Sean Wogan, points by Bonner, Donnacha Gallagher and Caoimhinn Marley to leave themselves right back in the mix with the home side replying with points from Kelly, Ruairi Friel, Michael Langan (two) and Colin McFadden to leave the half time score St. Michael’s 2-4 Glenswilly 1-7.
It was nip and tuck at the start of the second half before points from Kelly and Daniel McLaughlin pulled St. Michael’s ahead.
However, three points from Gallagher put the visitors right back in the match.
St. Michael’s finished the stronger with points from Kelly, McFadden and McLaughlin putting them in control.
A late goal by Kelly, following good work by McFadden, sealed the victory for St. Michael’s as the darkness closed in at the Bridge.
Both teams have successfully retained their Division 1 status for another year will now turn their attention to their opening games in the Senior Championship next weekend.
St. Michael’s travel to the Burn Road to take on Termon in Group C whilst the Glen men will open their campaign with a trip to Ardara.
