St Johnston man John Kelly threw a new Donegal record last night in Belfast to again reach the qualification mark for the European Under-23 Championships.
Finn Valley AC shot-putter Kelly reached out to 17.41 metres and he can be expected to be selected on the Irish team for the European U23s when the squad is named next week.
The Championships take place in Bydgoszcz, Poland from July 13-16.
Kelly has had a good year, winning the Irish senior title and the Irish Universities Championships.
Kelly has consistently broken records and last night’s aim was another county record for the LyIT student.
