Aaron Kelly netted a hat-trick, but Cappry Rovers suffered an agonising FAI Junior Cup defeat in Kilkenny.
The 2016 finalists, Evergreen FC, showed their worth by coming from 3-1 down to win a pulsating contest 4-3.
Kelly’s treble looked to have booked the Cappry tickets for the next round of the competition.
Evergreen had other ideas, however, and they netted three times between the 67th and 77th minutes to take the win.
Cappry, the Donegal League’s last remaining side, led through an early Kelly goal.
It was a lead they held until the interval.
Evergreen drew level through a Jamie Owens free kick on 52 minutes – and that was the start of the goal rush.
Twice in two minutes Kelly struck gold for Cappry and they seemed well poised for an upset.
However, Decky McQuillan rocked their nerves when he pulled one back before Ben Hickey equalised.
Evergreen snatched the win from beneath Cappry’s noses as Owen McCormack bagged the winner.
