KATE MCGOWAN from Tir Chonaill AC won gold in the women’s 400m hurdles at the Irish Universities Championships in Santry today.
McGowan was competing for DCU in the event and came home in 63:08 seconds to take the prize.
McGowan (pictured above with her mother, Anne) last year set a new Donegal record of 60:67 when winning the Irish Junior title.
She was on song again today to land gold in Santry.
Conal Mahon, also of Tir Chonaill AC, won bronze in the triple jump. The NUIG student leapt out to 13.40 metres.
Both were competing for Letterkenny Institute of Technology.
The Letterkenny Institute of Technology 4x100m men’s relay team finished in fourth in a time of 44.29 seconds.
The team of Anthony Appiah, Simon Archer, Kelvin Crossan and Ibenu Israel won their heat to make the final.
