WORLD YOUTH FINALIST Jordan Boyce won the youth singles competition at the inter-county finals in Ennis at the weekend.
The 16-year Deele College student from Newtowncunningham overcame Wicklow’s Evan Byrne 4-2 in Sunday’s final.
Boyce was part of the Donegal team who lost in the semi-final to Cork on Saturday.
Back in January, Boyce played in the World Youth final at the Lakeside when he was narrowly beaten by England’s Joshua Richardson in the BBC-televised match.
Boyce has been in flying form of late and he took that into the West County Hotel in Ennis.
Roscommon’s Niall Donegan was dispatched 2-0 in the opening round while Sean Cummins from Wicklow was edged 2-1 in the roudn of 32.
Boyce defeated fellow-Donegal man Michael Coll 2-0 to reach the last quarter-finals before overcoming Danny Keogh of Wicklow 2-1.
In the semis, Boyce defeated Clare’s Cian Burke 3-1 and then excelled in a 4-2 final win over Byrne.
