DONEGAL JOCKEY Martin Harley has accepted a chance to ride in Australia over the winter months.
The 30-year-old Trentagh man will link up with Ciaron Maher and will go in the Melbourne Spring Carnival.
Harley was in Hong Kong earlier this year and rode four winners with a planned three-month stay extended to six.
Harley, who has ridden for John Gosden since his return, will fly to Melbourne this week to take up his new role.
“I plan to fly out on Wednesday to take up the opportunity with Mr Maher and I will be effectively riding as a freelance,” Harley said.
“There’s a lot of racing and lots of horses running at the Spring Carnival out there and I’m looking forward to broadening my experience further.”
Harley was the champion Apprentice in 2011 and a Group 1-winning jockey.
