JASON QUIGLEY has weighed in for his NABF title defence with Tureano Johnson in California.
By Chris McNulty at Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino
Quigley, who boasts a perfect 16-0 record as a pro – with 12 of his wins recorded inside the distance – touched the scales at 159.4lbs with Johnson (20-2-1) weighing in at 159.0lbs.
As Johnson took to the scales, he told Quigley: ‘Are you ready for war? I’m going to bring the war.’
Quigley won the NABF strap when he beat Glen Tapia at Fantasy Springs in March 2017 and it was at the same venue that he overcame Freddy Hernandez last October in his first title defence.
“It’s always exciting when there’s a belt on the line,” Quigley said.
“The belt is like a piece of furniture in the house and no-one will take it away easy. These are stepping stones to where I want to get and these are the belts that will help me get the one I really want.
“Every professional boxer wants their hands on a belt. It’s brilliant to have a belt, but I’m searching and driving for world title belts.”
This will be Quigley’s seventh time to fight at Fantasy Springs. As well as his title wins, Quigley has also overcome Tolutomi Agunbiade, Joshua Snyder, Michael Faulk and Freddy Lopez in Indio.
