JASON QUIGLEY COULD FEATURE on the undercard for the Canelo Alvarez-Amir Khan fight in May.Quigley jets back to Los Angeles today to step up preparations for his 10th professional fight next month.
The Ballybofey man takes to the canvas at Fantasy Springs, Indio, on March 25.
It follows a big year in 2015 when Quigley won all six of his contests to take him to 9-0 in the pro ranks.
His next fight is likely to be an eight-rounder.
Golden Boy Promotions, to whom Quigley is signed, are keen for the former European gold and World silver medallist to feature in the Canelo-Khan card in May.
Eric Gomez, the Vice President of Golden Boy Promotions said: “We have a date of March 25 at Fantasy Springs so he’ll fight there and then after that we’ll bring him back, possibly on the ‘Canelo’ card.”
Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez meets Khan at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 7.
Alvarez captured the middleweight world championship with a unanimous decision over Miguel Cotto in November at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Quigley was ringside that night and has previously spoken of his burning desire to get the chance to dance with Canelo and his ilk.
Khan made his name at lightweight and is moving to fight for Alvarez’s middleweight belt and the WBC has sanctioned a 155lbs limit – five pounds under the statutory maximum.
With 2016 planned as a big year for Quigley, his bosses say the possibilities are endless.
Gomez said: “The kid’s ready to go, at some point he’ll have his first ten-round bout and then the sky is the limit from there.
“We’re talking about a kid who had 300 amateur fights.
“He’s very capable, he spars with very good pros. He’s sparred with some pretty big names.
“The kid is very talented and you don’t have to hold back on him, he’s ready to go.
“I just feel he’s one of our top prospects, if not our top one.
“There’s so much upside to Jason Quigley, he’s a middleweight, he’s a big banger, great smile, good kid. There’s so much upside to him.”
