Carndonagh Community School 5 Chanel College, Coolock 1
Talisman Jack Doherty was the hat- trick hero for the Ulster Champions while Cory McBride kept the opposition busy on the wing throughout the game scoring one and assisting two with Cade Cooke also getting on the score sheet.
The Chanel lads had an early opportunity to impress in the first four minutes with John Berry supplying a superb through ball to Schools’ International star Ali Regbha but his effort sailed over the upright.
Carndonagh responded quickly as a result of Corey McBride’s great work on the left, crossing a remarkable low and hard ball to Jack Doherty who slotted it past the Chanel goalkeeper.
Just before half time Corey McBride increased the goal difference with a cheeky chip over the on rushing keeper Lucas Leavey.
The comeback for Chanel was on when Ryan Hart scored a great individual goal just three minutes into the restart leaving plenty of time to get back into the game, but this was quickly countered by Jack Doherty’s header at the back post which was delivered at pace from the ever reliable Corey McBride who put in tremendous work on the left wing.
Chanel’s hopes of a comeback came to a halt when Carndonagh were awarded a penalty which was put away by Jack Doherty, ensuring a wonderful hat-trick for the youngster.
Martin Cavanagh’s side sealed the deal with a clean finish courtesy of substitute Cade Cooke with two minutes to go in the game, leaving an impressive 5-1 score-line.
