Orrin Burgess (Rosses Community School)
Rosses CS booked a place in the Tom Ticher Cup final thanks to a win over St Gerald’s College from Castlebar last week. Adam McCaffrey and Orrin Burgess netted the goals for Enda Walsh’s team. Burgess was one of the stars of the show for the Rosses outfit, pulling the strings to superb effect in the engine room.
Terence Doherty (Glengad United)
Glengad United stay on Greencastle’s coat tails at the summit of the Jackie Crossan Premier Division. Greencastle moved six points clear on Sunday morning with a 2-0 win over Aileach. Glengad, who are fighting for honours on all fronts, hit back with an emphatic 6-0 win over Illies Celtic at The Crua. Deadly Terence Doherty hit FOUR goals for Glengad in an impressive display from the in-form hitman.
Michael McNaught (Moville Celtic)
Moville Celtic captured the Strand Hotel First Division title on Sunday. In a game arranged at the eleventh hour after the postponement of the Charlie O’Donnell Cup final on Saturday evening. But Moville were undeterred with the rearrangement and defeated Gleneely Colts 4-0 at Glenview Park to seal the League title. Michael McNaught netted a hat-trick for John L Coyle’s side as they had a St Patrick’s Day to celebrate.
Niall O’Donnell (Donegal)
Donegal came from five points down at half-time, and six down early in the second half, to record an impressive 1-19 to 1-12 win over Cork on Saturday that keeps their promotion bid firmly on track. Niall O’Donnell was one of those to impress for Donegal and Saturday’s was one of his best games in the county colours, a suggestion that the St Eunan’s man is really coming of age.
