ANOTHER stunning second round KO saw Jason Quigley record the eighth win of his professional career.
The Ballybofey man stopped 30-year-old Michael Faulk towards the end of round two at the Fantasy Springs Resort in Indio, California.
When Faulk dropped to the canvas a third time, referee Ray Corona stepped in after the American’s corner threw in the towel with just a second left on the clock.
Faulk was holding on for dear life by that time, though.
A counter right from Quigley put Faulk down early in the round before a trademark flurry from the 24-year-old left Faulk taking another count from the referee.
“I had to figure him out and see him what he was all about,” said Quigley, whose record improved to 8-0 (8 KOs) with his latest success.
“I tried a few back hands to the body and I could see it in his eyes that he was in trouble.”
Pictured above is Quigley celebrating his win.
The first round had seen a calm and composed display by Quigley, who was well on top of things throughout that opening three minutes.
When the end came it was another devastating combination from Quigley that brought the bout to a close, with a cracking left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head that felled Faulk.
Quigley has now won each of his last four fights in the second round.
Just a month after his last win, a second round KO of Tom Howard at the LA Sports Arena, the Golden Boy Promotions prospect was thrust back upon the canvas – and he made no mistake against Faulk, who was returning to the ring after a two-and-a-half-year absence.
Quigley has now added Faulk to an ever-growing list with Howard Reece, Fernando Najera, Greg McCoy, Lanny Dardar, Tolutomi Agunbiade, Joshua Snyder and Howard all having been beaten by way of stoppages in the former European gold and World silver medalist’s first year as a pro
