John Kelly was top of the podium again yesterday as he scooped gold in the Irish University Athletics Championships, held at Cork IT.
Letterkenny Institute of Technology student Kelly, a native of St Johnston who competes out of Finn Valley AC, reached out to 15.85 metres to claim a comfortable win.
Kelly was well beyond the silver medal winner, Eoin Sheridan from DCU, who landed 14.41m.
Fellow Finn Valley athlete and LyIT student Gavin McLaughlin came fourth with a 13.14m effort.
McLaughlin won a silver medal in the discus as he threw 33.10m there. Sheridan was the gold winner in the discus with 39.61m.
