Intermediate Cup – Rovers advance to quarter-finals as Cockhill bow out

Letterkenny Rovers bagged three second-half goals to move into the quarter-finals of the FAI New Balance Intermediate Cup.

Eamon McConigley’s team, finalists two seasons ago, got into the last eight after an excellent 3-0 win over Cherry Orchard in Dublin.

Conor Tourish headed the Cathedral Town men ahead just before the hour.

20 minutes from time, Ryan Lonergan added a brilliant second goal for Letterkenny. And just for good measure, a superb strike by Pajo Rafferty completed the scoring.

There was no joy for USL champions Cockhill Celtic, however. Gavin Cullen’s men lost 1-0 away to Home Farm.
