Seamus Coleman might be out injured, but the Killybegs man is still playing a central role in the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifying hopes.
Coleman has been absent since March, when he suffered a horrific double leg break in Ireland’s 0-0 draw with Wales.
The Everton ace is continuing his rehabilitation and has recently returned to full training.
Following a draw with Georgia and a defeat to Serbia, Ireland’s chances of booking a place at next summer’s finals in Russia have faded.
To stand a chance, they must beat Moldova tonight in Dublin and repeat the trick against Wales in Cardiff on Monday.
Earlier this evening, Wales defeated Georgie 1-0 in Tbilisi thanks to Tom Lawrence’s powerful strike early in the second half.
Despite being injured, Coleman – the Irish captain – traveled with the team to the game tonight and is sure to have had a key role behind the scenes.
Ireland team: Randolph; Christie, Duffy, Clark, Ward; Meyler, Hendrick, Hoolahan, O’Dowda; Long, Murphy.
