ILLIES, CLONMANY AND MOVILLE bagged home wins in the Inishowen Engineering Reserve Premier Division yesterday.
Illies Reserves 2 Sea Rovers 1
SEAN Rovers had a great chance in the opening minute when the home defence failed to clear but Daniel Glackin fired wide from 12 yards.
Illies replied and broke the deadlock after Gavin Doherty crossed from the left for Seamus Donaghey to head high past Glen Watson from 10 yards.
On the half hour Rovers equalised when Graham Morgan fired low past Graham Doherty from the edge of the area after collecting a poor clearance.
Illies replied and Joe McDaid had a header cleared off the line by James McCloskey on the stroke of half time after a Stephen Doherty corner.
Rovers took the lead on 51 minutes when a Damien Ward cross found Keelan Doherty to slot low to the corner from ten yards.
Midway through the second half Illies Donaghey had a low effort superbly saved by Watson before Stephen Doherty broke clear of the rovers defence but again Watson again saved well.
Clonmany Reserves 2 Cockhill Colts 1
COCKHILL started the game the better and were unlucky in the fourth minute when Mark Gillespie controlled in the area and fired in a low shot which crashed off the post and was cleared to safety.
Gillespie fired a free kick in a dangerous position straight into the wall.
Clonmany replied and John Porter had a free kick from the edge of the area saved by Kevin McDaid in the Colts goal on 29 minutes.
The league champions took the lead on 41 minutes when a Christopher Harkin free from wide on the right was allowed to bounce and Alan Friel took it in his stride before slotting home from six yards.
Cockhill started the second period brightly and on 46 minutes a Keegan Hegarty free kick just evaded Brian Murray.
They got back on terms when Gillespie crossed from the left for Murray to poke the ball low past Liam McGonigle from 12 yards.
Clonmany responded and on 61 minutes Conor O Donnell had an effort tipped over by McDaid.
Clonmany regained the lead on 82 minutes when Andrew Doherty was bundled over in the area and Brendan Doherty fired low to the left of McDaid who got a hand to the ball but failed to keep it out.
Moville Reserves 5 Aileach Reserves 1
IN an even opening Kyle Harkin and Conor Radcliffe combined for the latter to cross to Michael McNaught but he fired wide when well placed.
Aileach broke and Dean Gill raced clear in a one on one but Ryan Coyle advanced to save well. Moville then blitzed Aileach with a three-goal blast midway through the half in a seven-minute spell.
They took the lead after Colin Doherty released McNaught who crossed for Pearse Doherty to finish well from close range.Minutes later they made it 2-0 after Harkin’s corner fell nicely for Norbert Indyka to slam home from five yards.
Indyka turned provider when his cross found McNaught and he slotted low to the corner from twelve yards.
Aileach began the second half the better and Jordan McGeady’s cross was sliced onto his own crossbar by Johnny Radcliffe before being cleared.
But on 52 minutes McGeady reduced the deficit when he raced onto a ball over the top to drill low past the advancing Coyle. Benny Hegarty then had a header well saved by Coyle while at the other end Pearse Doherty’s attempted chip drifted just wide.
Moville added their fourth on 71 minutes when Indyka held off two challenges to drill the ball low to the corner from 14 yards and the same player completed the scoring and his hat trick when he tapped home after Colin Doherty’s effort came back off the post.
Aileach Reserves 0 Buncrana Reserves 2
AN understrength home side suffered a surprising defeat at home to a young Buncrana side on Thursday night.
Aileach started well and Stephen Doherty had an early chance but his effort was saved by Eoghan O’Doherty.
Buncrana replied and a John O’Loughlin cross was turned away by Dylan Clarke. On 35 minutes Buncrana took the lead when Michael Doherty cut in and from a tight angle fired in off the post.
Just before the break the home side replied when Conor Harkin fired just wide from 15 yards. Aileach started the second half well and a Stephen Doherty effort was turned round the post. Buncrana caught the home side on 66 minutes when Ben Doherty beat the offside trap and raced clear to drill home.
Aileach tried to get back into it and on 78 minutes Harkin had an effort which crashed off the bar.
