GAVIN DOHERTY scored a late winner to secure Aileach a dramatic 4-3 win over Greencastle at Chapel Lane; Glengad hammered Culdaff 9-1 and Clonmany purred to a 3-0 win at Dunree.

Dunree United 0 Clonmany Shamrocks 3
MICHAEL Devlin fired the shamrocks ahead from the penalty spot in the 15th minute shooting low to keeper Philip Doherty’s right after the home side were penalised in the area.
The same player doubled their lead on 36 minutes when an inswinging corner flew all the way to the net.
Despite the scoreline this was a tight gamer with few chances and on 51 minutes Dunree’s Philip McGuinness had an effort which was well saved by Patrick Harkin.
At the other end Mikey Friel burst through but was denied by a great save from Doherty.
Dunree had a late chance to exert pressure on the visitors but a Peter O’Neill cross eluded all and flew across the face of goal. On the stroke of full time Jason Devlin cut in from the right and unleashed a stunning effort to the top corner from twenty yards.

Carn FC 3 QPS 1
CARN secured their first league points with a deserved win over a QPS side who battled very hard all through the game.
The home side started really well and Caolan Doherty had an effort cleared off the line before Matthew McLaughlin fired wide. Then both Ronan Doherty and Declan McGonagle were denied by good saves from Oisin Burke.
The deadlock was finally broken on 32 minutes when Brandon Browne broke clear on the left and fired a low shot across Burke to the far corner.
They made it 2-0 eight minutes after the break when Browne released Matthew McLaughlin and he finished well low past Burke.
With the aid of the wind QPS forced the home side back for long periods but they failed to trouble Daniel Houghton in the home goal and Chris Monteith had two long range efforts just wide.
They got a lifeline on 85 minutes when Raymond Buchanan was upended in the area allowing Monteith to calmly slot low to Houghtons left.
Carn killed off any hopes of a comeback when substitute Dion Diver broke on the right and crossed to Cathal Doherty who laid the ball back for Darragh Deery to drive low to the corner and in the process seal the points.

Greencastle FC 3 Aileach FC 4
IN an entertaining game Aileach started the better and went ahead on two minutes when a low cross from the left by Dermot Doherty found Anthony Doherty to side foot home from close range.
At the other end Ronan Doherty had an effort well saved by John Roulstone but on seven minutes Anthony Doherty fired home his second of the game after a scramble in the area.
Dermot Doherty then intercepted a back pass and rounded O’Doherty but from a tight angle fired into the side netting. Greencastle rallied with Ronan Doherty seeing a shot saved, Matthew Henry firing over, Doherty denied by a Conor Bradley tackle before Mark Henry advanced and fed Michael Henry but he blazed over.
On 38 minutes Michael Barr played a neat one two with Shaun Doherty before being upended in the area allowing Ronan Doherty to calmly slot home the spot kick.
Aileach hit back and Gavin Doherty had an effort well saved while before the break Gavin Harkin found Joe Doherty but the striker was unable to hit the target.
Aileach began the second period smartly with both Dermot Doherty and Stephen McKendrie seeing efforts well saved by O’Doherty.
The home side equalised on 55 minutes when a Matthew Henry low cross was poked home by Joe Doherty.
They continued to press with Shaun Doherty and Mark Henry firing over but were dealt a severe blow on 79 minutes after Shaun Doherty was red carded for a second caution.
Aileach exerted full retribution from the free when O’Doherty punched clear but only as far as Dermot Doherty who slotted home first time.
Greencastle poured forward and when substitute Chris Hegarty was tripped inside the area Ronan Doherty converted his second penalty of the game to make it three all.
The home side were caught pouring forward and paid the price when Gavin Doherty curled a superb effort in off the underside of the bar from fifteen yards to secure the points.
