Jackie Crossan Premier Division took place on Sunday as Carn held out for an impressive draw against Glengad United.

Illies took an early lead after David Doherty’s fine defensive header was collected by Michael Coyle who split the home defence for Gavin Doherty to race clear and hammer low past Seamus Houghton. Moville tried to respond but Conor Doherty shot weakly at Johnathan Noone when well placed. On 33 minuts Coyle laid the ball off to Paul Doherty on the edge of the area but Houghton was equal to the effort.
On the stroke of half time Moville’s Jack McConalogue then had a snapshot saved by Noone. Illies had the first chance of the second period but Coyle fired into the side netting when well placed. Moville responded and equalised after a superb cross to the back post by McConalogue was met by a brilliant header from Doherty to the roof of the net after a defender had slipped.
Moville substitute Michael McNaught then went close after a scramble in the area but his effort came back off the post. Illies rallied and when Gavin Doherty was upended in the area Paul Doherty despatched the kick low to the corner despite Houghton getting a hand to the ball.
Doherty spurned another good chance after Gavin Doherty had pulled the ball back into his path but he fired straight at Houghton. Moville forced four successive corners in injury time but could not salvage a point.

The home side started this game well with the pace of Conor Gillen on the right causing the visitors all sorts of problems. After one such run the first chance came to the home side when Gillen crossed for Ronan Doherty but his point blank effort was well saved by Eoghan O Doherty.
The home side then took the lead midway through the half when Gerry Gill despatched a superb free kick to the top corner. Buncrana came more into the game in the ten minutes before the break but failed to create any clear chances of note. Upon resumption of the match, Greencastle continued to press Buncrana. On the 70th minute Stephen Grant made a great run down the right-hand side of the pitch and crossed in for Nigel McMonagle to chest the ball into the back of the net only for it to be judged hand ball.
On the 75th minute, Buncrana were awarded a free kick just inside the Greencastle half. The ball was floated in from the free kick and Gerard McLaughlin rose above everyone to fire in a header but was safely gathered by Dylan Doherty in the Greencastle nets. The remaining 15 minutes Greencastle continued to press for the second goal but could not penetrate the Buncrana defence.
Aileach FC 3
Cockhill Celtic Youths 0
Cockhill began this game on the front foot and forced a couple of early corners which the home defence dealt with comfortably. Aileach’s first chance of note came after 15 minutes when Darren McMonagle’s right wing cross almost found Dermot Doherty but Liam McGonagle pounced on the loose ball to avert the danger.
Cockhill were playing well without creating anything clear cut and somewhat against the run of play the home side took the lead when Ethan Canning played a one two with Dermot Doherty and finished low past McGonagle from eight yards.Aileach were a different proposition in the second half and grabbed control of the game. After spurning a few decent chances Aileach finally got a second midway through the half, it arrived courtesy of an overlapping run by Darren Gallagher whose cross found Dean Curran and the big midfielder controlled before firing past McGonagle from close range. A third followed almost immediately when Denim McLaughlin played in Darren McMonagle and the wing back advanced before driving the ball home from 10 yards to secure the points

Glengad United 0
Carn created the first chance on 5 minutes when Brandon Browne broke on the right wing and laid it off for Cade Cooke who shot l wide from 10 yards. Glengad replied on 16 minutes after Finn McClure made a long pass along the right wing to Conor barrow who crossed for Terence Doherty who fired wide from 10 yards.
Carn replied midway through the half when Will Quinn passed from the centre of midfield and found Brandon Browne on the right-wing who beat a defender and crossed for Lorcan Bradley who shot over the bar from 12 yards.
Glengad got another chance on 38 minutes after Seamus Doherty sent Cathal McDaid one on one with Daniel Houghton but he shot high to the left and wide from 10 yards. Glengad came back strongly in the second half when Matthew Byrne found Terence Doherty who laid it off to Declan McLaughlin but his effort was parried onto to the post by Daniel Houghton in the Carn goal. The home side ‘s Brandon Browne nearly broke the deadlock on 63 minutes when he got on the end of Cade Cooke’s cross from the right and unmarked in the 18 yard box he failed to hit the target.
Glengad created another chance on 74 minutes when Matthew Byrne found Conor Barrow on the right wing who crossed for Terence Doherty who shot low to the left but was again well saved by Houghton. Glengad applied real pressure during this period and nearly got the winner on 87 minute when Terence Doherty found substitute Christy McLaughlin who rounded the defender and laid it off for Seamus Doherty who shot low to the left and wide from 6 yards.
