THERE was a goal-filled programme of games in the Donegal Signs Reserve League Shield this weekend.
Carrowmena Reserves 1-2 Rasheney Reserves          Â
CARROWMENA had the better of the early exchanges in this game and on five minutes Oran McDermott had an effort well saved by Roger McGilloway before the keeper also gathered a Paul Duffy free.
They missed a great chance when Gerard Gill fed McDermott whose effort was parried by McGilloway but Pearse Parkinson blazed the rebound over.
Rasheney responded and both Patrick and David McGilloway fired over when well placed.
On the half hour Duffy fired narrowly over for the home side.
They broke the deadlock after Dean McGeoghaghan was upended in the area and McDermott converted the kick.
Rasheney upped the tempo in the second period with the home side restricted to playing on the break but well marshalled by Fergal Doherty Rasheney stood firm.
They got back on terms on 65 minutes when Paddy McGilloway pounced on a defensive error to slot home.
They struck for the winner on 86 minutes when McGilloway converted a penalty after he had been upended in the area.
Carrowmena replied and had a late chance to equalise but Caolan Mullarkey fired over from six yards.
Illies Reserves 1-3 Greencastle Reserves        Â
ILLIES began the game well and in the opening ten minutes both Ryan McEleney and Charlie McLaughlin had good efforts well saved by Seamus Bovaird.
Defensive errors cost the home side in this game and in the space of three minutes midway through the half Eunan McDaid pounced on two bad errors to fire high to the roof of the net.
On the stroke of half time a deep cross by Eunan Hegarty found John McDermott to head past Jason Campbell at the back post.
Illies tried hard in the second period but found the visits defence a tough nut to crack.
They did get a goal back on 75 minutes when Graeme Doherty’ s free was headed home by Martin Donaghey.
Minutes later they came close again when Ronan Hegarty beat a defender and lifted the ball over Bovaird but a defender got back to clear.
Greencastle saw out the game well in the final period.
Moville Reserves 1-3 Sea Rovers
MOVILLE started well with Michael McNaught and Matthew McLaughlin seeing early shots saved by Glen Watson.
Rovers opened the scoring on 8 minutes when a corner fell to Damien Ward who sidestepped a defender and fired a twenty yards effort in off the post.
Midway through the half rovers increased their lead when Gerard McEleney headed a ball down for Keelan Doherty to slot home from close range.
Moville replied with McNaught again denied by Watson before they got a goal back when Christy McGeoghaghan flicked a McNaught cross past Watson at the near post on 37 minutes.
Rovers began the second period well and increased their lead on 53 minutes when after a goalmouth scramble Matthew Harley tapped the ball home.
Home goalkeeper Padraic Doherty then saved well to deny Ward before at the other end both Orr and Kevin McDermott had efforts saved by Watson.
Rovers spurned a late chance to add another goal after Keelan Doherty fired wide from the penalty spot.

QPS Reserves 1-1 Clonmany Reserves
KEVIN Wallace had an early header over the bar from a corner before Chris O’Donnell had an effort saved from 25 yards by Danny Harkin in the Clonmany goal.
They took the lead on 22 minutes when Paul Hegarty intercepted a kick out and lobbed the stranded Harkin.
Clonmany responded with Paddy Doherty firing wide and Christy Harkin heading over before the break.
On the restart the points Joe Johnstone beat two defenders but his cross eluded all while at the other end Brendan Doherty advanced into the area but Wallace blocked well.
The Point had a good spell then with Johnstone lobbing just over before Jack McConalogue had a volley saved and Johnstone again breaking clear but denied by the legs of Harkin.
The visitors salvaged a point when Paddy Doherty pounced on a defensive error to drill a shot to the top corner.
Aileach Reserves 7-0 Carn Reserves    Â
THE home side dominated from the start and took an early lead when a corner was not cleared allowing David Ryan to volley home from twelve yards.
On 11 minutes Ruairi Bradley despatched a twenty yards effort low inside the right hand post past Daniel McCarron.
Aileach increased their lead on 35 minutes when Stephen Doherty fired a brilliant effort from distance to the top corner.
On the stroke of half time they made it four when Doherty pounced on an error to drill the ball low to the corner from fifteen yards. Doherty then completed his hat-trick when he pounced after Bradley’s effort was parried to tap home from close range.
They made it six nil when Gregory Doherty’s cross was headed superbly to the top corner by Dermot McGlynn before the visitors had a good chance but Cade Cooke fired inches wide from the edge of the area.
On 81 minutes Gerard Arbuckle fed McGlynn who slid the ball low to the corner from ten yards.
Gleneely Colts 1-5 Cockhill Colts                      Â
THE Colts had an early chance when Cory O’Brien had an effort well saved by Liam Lynch.Cockhill settled and broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when Brian Murray flicked on to Gary Breslin to fire through the legs of Mark Lafferty.
They added a second minutes later when Martin Breslin intercepted a kick out and chipped the retreating Lafferty.
They made it three just after the restart when Martin Breslin fed Murray to slot home from eight yards.
Gleneely rallied and got a goal back on 55 minutes after an Enda Folan free kick crashed off the bar but Nathan McLaughlin collected the rebound and fired home from twenty yards.
But within five minutes Cockhill struck again and a corner was allowed to run all the way across the goal for Gary Breslin to tap home at the back post.
They completed the scoring on 82 minutes when Martin Breslin intercepted a defensive pass and saw his effort take a deflection on its way past Lafferty.
Glengad Reserves 2-9 Aileach Youths               Â
AILEACH inflicted a heavy defeat on the home side at the Crua with the unmarked Eddie McGrath heading past Michael McLaughlin from eight yards before from a corner Stephen Gillespie headed to the roof of the net on 11 minutes.
Glengad replied and a Eugene McLaughlin effort clipped the bar.
McGrath got his second of the game when he beat a man on the left and fired the rebound home after his initial effort was blocked by McLaughlin.
Midway through the half Matthew Doherty rose above a defender and headed home before Glengad got a goal back when Gary Kelly tapped in after Nathan Kelly’s effort was parried by Dylan Clarke.
When PJ McDaid converted a penalty after Conor Carey was upended comeback looked on but on the stroke of half time Cian Porter controlled a Matthew Doherty cross to slot home and make it five two.
Aileach dominated the second period with McGrath seeing an effort crash off the post to Dara Grant but his effort crashed off the bar.
Both Matthew Doherty and Paul McHugh scored with good shots from outside the area before McGrath made it eight and his hat trick when he drilled home from ten yards.
They completed the scoring on 86 minutes after substitute Brendan Hegarty converted from close range after the home defence failed to clear.
Dunree Reserves 3-3 Buncrana Reserves                    Â
DUNREE started the game well and opened the scoring on 10 minutes a David Eccles effort was parried by Brian O Sullivan for Evan Barry to tap the ball home.
Buncrana equalised midway through the half when a Gary Duffy ball over the top sent Adam Doherty clear and he fired low past Philip Doherty.
Dunree replied with Barry feeding Bernie Doherty but from a good position he fired wide.
Buncrana took the lead in the opening minute of the second half when Michael Doherty played a neat one two with TJ McKinley to advance into the area and drill the ball past Doherty in the home goal.
But Dunree got back on terms on 54 minutes after Johnny Doherty ‘s cross was controlled well by Bernie Doherty who fired low to the corner from twelve yards.
Dunree then reclaimed the lead on 65 minutes when Bernie Doherty laid the ball off inside the area to Marty Lynch who fired high past O’Sullivan.
They spurned another great chance after Barry broke past the visitors defence but failed to hit the target .
Buncrana upped the tempo then with John O Loughlin crossing for Puaric O Flaherty to head down to Adam Doherty to slot home.
Both sides had late chance with Barry firing wide when in the clear for the home side and at the other end O’Flaherty saw a header well saved by Doherty.
