ST EUNAN’S COLLEGE’S MacLarnon Cup quarter-final against St Louis, Ballymena was abandoned after just six minutes this afternoon.
Referee Barry Cassidy called a halt to proceedings at St Mary’s GAA club in Banager, Co Derry, after consulting with the respective managers, James Gordon of St Eunan’s and Gearoid Adams from St Louis, agreeing that conditions were ‘impossible’.
At the time of the abandonment, St Eunan’s were 0-1 to 0-0 ahead through a Caoimhin Marley ’45.
As an example of the severity of the surroundings, a kick-out from the St Louis, Ballymena goalkeeper, Eoin Marquess, flew back over his head and out for a ’45.
The two camps agreed to call a halt. Due to the mock exams, the game will now be played on Friday-week at the earliest.
