EDDIE Hearn believes Jason Quigley is the perfect opponent to make a Boston barnburner with WBO world champion Demetrius Andrade.
Hearn last week tabled an offer for Quigley to fight Andrade, who holds the WBO world title.
Quigley has entered the top ten of the WBO rankings and is keen on the contest.
While British boxer Felix Cash has accepted an offer from Hearn to meet Andrade, the Matchroom Sport chief says Quigley would make better business.
“I like Jason a lot,” Hearn said.
“Demetrius Andrade — you don’t need to tell me he needs a big fight. But they (fellow middleweight champions) just won’t fight him.
“But he has to fight. And I’d rather give it to a Jason or a Felix — someone who it’s going to mean the world to, someone who’s going to fight their heart out to win the world title — than someone who we’re not involved with. And we don’t even represent Jason Quigley! I just like him and I know he’ll give a good fight.
“And with him being Irish, maybe we do that fight in Boston or wherever. Demetrius is from Providence. And I think it’s a good, solid fight.”
Hearn was speaking to the42.ie in Leeds where he promoted a DAZN-screened card headlined by Josh Warrington and Mauricio Lara and featuring Katie Taylor’s win over Jennifer Han.
Quigley has made no secret of his desire to get a crack at Andrade’s strap.
The Ballybofey man said: “Andrade’s a two-weight world champion and is a top class fighter, but I fancy my chances big time. I have been ready since my last fight. I’ve stayed in shape and I’m ready to rock and roll.”
The Andy Lee-trained Quigley (19-1, 14KOs) ended a 16-month ring exile with the impressive win over Shane Mosley Jr, an outing that represented his best performance since ditching the amateur vest in 2014.
Hearn added: “I didn’t even think about Felix — I didn’t think they’d accept it. But now, we have to decide who gets the fight. I think from a profile perspective in America, Quigley is the bigger name. Nobody over there really knows Felix Cash — even though I know he put on a great performance last time (against Denzel Bentley).
“The US audience is more used to Quigley and I think he’d have good support on the East Coast. He’s a good option.”
