Jacob Borg has already been courted by some Premier Division clubs – but the Maltese international says he wants to stay at Finn Harps.
The 27-year-old (pictured by Joe Boland, North West News Pix) was recruited by Harps boss Ollie Horgan in July.
In a dozen appearances, Borg netted two goals – in the 7-1 League win over Cabinteely and the 3-1 away win over Bray in the FAI Cup.
Borg proved a superb capture by Horgan and the Australian-born player’s versatility was a big asset as Harps won promotion.
His talents have already been noted, but Borg has indicated a desire to remain at Finn Park.
“Most probably I will find out in the next couple of weeks. However, I would like to stay here at the Harps because I feel that I am part of a family.”
Borg certainly fitted in well in Ballybofey and enjoyed the moment at the Markets Field as a 2-0 win on Friday-week past secured a Premier Division return for Harps.
Borg said: “It was a special night for our club when we got promoted.
“We were the underdogs, and rightly so, but we turned up to both games well-prepared and I think we put up two impressive showings.
“We are also grateful to our fans, who followed us in huge numbers for our away match in Limerick and their passionate support was crucial for us to get a positive result.”
Borg has been capped once by Malta and has expressed a wish to win more international caps.
