It all began well for the holders with Dermot Doherty firing narrowly wide before Gavin Doherty saw a twenty five yards free clip the post.
They took the lead after a short corner when Keith McColgan found Gavin Doherty in the box and he controlled well before firing low to the corner.
Anthony Doherty then broke clear but his effort came off the post before the same player was denied in a one-on-one by the home keeper and in the scramble that developed the ball was cleared off the line.
Convoy started well with David McGeady making a couple of good saves.
On 66 minutes Dermot Doherty’s cross was volleyed home by Gavin Doherty to make it two nil. Aileach lost possession and Convoy got a goal back when Conor Rodgers converted.
A cross-cum-shot into the area by Joe McGill was gathered by McGeady on the line but the referee inexplicably awarded a goal. Aileach were rattled and in injury time they conceded again as Rodgers’ second gave Convoy the edge.
Aileach pressed and Darren McMonagle hit the outside of the post before McColgan had an effort kicked off the line.
