Ben Wallace continued his rise recently when he was called up to the Ireland Under-18 hockey team for a two-test series in Wrexham.
Ireland won the first game, against a mixture of Welsh Under-18 and Under-21s, 2-1 before drawing 1-1 in the second test.
Wallace played for Raphoe’s first team last season but at the start of this campaign, at the end of last summer, he signed for Annadale.
Wallace lines out with the XII side at Annadale. In December he won the Kirk Cup and finished runners-up in the League, enabling them to qualify for the IHL play-off weekend.
There, Wallace scored in a 4-0 win over Belfast Harlequins and in a 6-0 win over Belfast Harlequins. Annadale also defeated YMCA 2-1 and Clontarf 2-0.
Annadale defeated Bandon 5-0 and Cookstown 3-1 to win the play-offs with Wallace scoring a cracking goal and they now go into next season’s All-Ireland League.
