GLENGAD UNITED booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FAI Junior Cup this afternoon.

Shane Byrne’s team came from behind and goals by Nigel McMonagle and Matthew Byrne sent the Inishowen League champions into the last eight.
Aungier started quickly and in the opening minute a Jordan Courtney cross was cleared off the line by John G McLaughlin.
On 10 minutes the home side broke the deadlock when a superb cross from the left by Courtney found Ryan Redmond to slot home at the back post.
Glengad gradually got into the game and a quick free by Patrick
McDermott found Terence Doherty who teed up Michael Byrne, but his effort crashed back off the post.
Midway through the half great work by Doherty on the right saw him find Nigel McMonagle and he curled a brilliant effort into the bottom corner from twenty yards.
The home side hit back and Gary Maguire was denied by a fine save from Sean O’Donnell.
Glengad replied and took the lead on 40 minutes when Matty
Byrne played a neat one two with Christopher McLaughlin before drilling a brilliant effort to the bottom corner.
On the stroke of half time the home side almost levelled after Kyle Murphy fed Jake Donnelly, who sent Christopher Radley clear but O’Donnell stood tall to make a superb save.
Aungier upped the tempo on the restart and Glengad were forced to defend very deep and try and play on the break.
On 55 minutes Ryan Plunkett wasdenied by a fine save from O’Donnell before Radley advanced into the area but fired over from fifteen yards when very well placed.
Glengad broke on 70 minutes with McMonagle’s cross deflecting off a defender and onto the post before being cleared.
Aungier should have got back on terms on then when Donelly fired wide when very well placed inside the area.
Glengad were dealt a blow with eighteen minutes remaining after Terence Doherty was red carded for a second yellow card.
But on a rare break Glengad won a free kick which Matthew Byrne hit but it was deflected off the wall.
In injury time Bradley broke clear but a brilliant last ditch tackle
by John G McLaughlin saved the day as Glengad’s Junior Cup adventure rolls into the quarter finals.
