ROBERT DIAZ, the matchmaker with Golden Boy Promotions, has tipped Jason Quigley for big things ahead of the Ballybofey man’s meeting with Freddy Lopez.
The unbeaten Quigley, 9-0 (8KOs) so far in the professional ranks, takes on 30-year-old Mexican Lopez (9-3) at Fantasy Springs in Indio tonight.
The fight is scheduled for eight rounds, meaning Quigley will be title-eligible after this bout.
Golden Boy Matchmaker Diaz expects the former Finn Valley ABC man to reach the top.
“He has all the ingredients of a world champion – he’s a star in the making,” Diaz said.
“He’s a very good kid. He has a good personality and he’s coming into this fight on the back of some very good sparring. I’m excited to see him back in action and it’ll be a good fight.”
Quigley and Lopez weight in yesterday at Fantasy Springs. Quigley tipped the scales at 163.3lbs with Lopez coming in at 165lbs.
“Freddy is tall and rangy, he’s about six feet tall with long arms so he could make it awkward,” Quigley said.
“He’s bringing a decent record to the table. It’ll be a great fight for me. I know this guy won’t be the same prepared as I am. I have so much confidence in the work I’ve done. I’m ready for action.
