In miserable conditions, Killybegs were 4-5 to 1-2 in front at half-time, with all three of Cunningham’s goals coming in the first half in the 13-a-side fixture.
James McSharry also netted for Killybegs in the first half, with Brendan Boyle getting the Ardara goal in the eighth minute to make it 1-1 apiece.
Antoine O’Hara in the Killybegs goal saved a penalty from Lorcan O’Donnell on 11 minutes, with Seamus Óg Byrne also a point-scorer for the home team in the opening half. Brendan Boyle also missed from the spot, in his case hitting the post.
Shaun Gorrell and Christopher Murrin add points before Michael Stratham grabbed Killybegs’ fifth goal, with Kevin Whyte kicking the Ardara points.
