EVERTON WILL ASSESS a hamstring injury suffered by Seamus Coleman in this afternoon’s 3-1 win over Chelsea at Goodison Park.
The 26-year-old hobbled off 13 minutes from time as Steven Naismith’s hat-trick inflicted a third defeat of the Premier League season on Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez was asked about Coleman and Muhamed Besic, who also was withdrawn, afterwards.
“Obviously we are going to assess them over the next 48 hours,” Martinez said. “I’m sure they are soft tissue problems. We’ll find out a bit more tomorrow.”
Coleman’s Republic of Ireland team are currently four points in front of Scotland in third place in Group D of the Euro 2016 qualifiers, with Martin O’Neill’s side having vital fixtures next month – at home to Germany on Thursday, August 8, and then away to Poland in Warsaw on Sunday, October 11.
Last week, Coleman played in the 1-0 victory over Georgia at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin having been left out of the 4-0 victory against Gibraltar.
