MINISTER OF STATE FOR GAELTACHT AFFAIRS, Joe McHugh, TD, has announced that he has sanctioned a grant of €88,064 for Gweedore Celtic FC.
The grant for the club based at An Screaban in Derrybeg, who run a successful underage academy, is for the development of a playing pitch for children. The club currently has an astroturf facility alongside the main playing pitch and clubrooms and was named as Aviva Club of the Month in November 2012.

“If sports clubs are to attract and retain athletes, they must provide standard facilities for everyone,” Minister of State McHugh said.
“I’m pleased the have a Language Plan which will help to promote the Irish language in the club itself and in the surrounding area.”
