They had the majority of possession in the first half but they did not create a huge amount of chances.
They did open the scoring when Michael Barr unleashed a superb 20-yards effort which flew into the bottom corner.
The home side did not learn their lesson because on 36 minutes Barr again found space and repeated the trick with another fine effort from similar distance to make it two-nil.
Lifford replied before the break and Rob Lyndsey blazed over after the ball fell to him on the edge of the area.
Greencastle increased their lead then on the hour after a superb run and cross by Stephen Grant found Christy Hegarty to score with a superb header.
On 68 minutes they made it four nil when Shaun Doherty strode forward and unleashed a stunning 35-yards effort to the top corner.
The home side reduced the deficit on 74 minutes when Johnny Robb grabbed a consolation when he robbed a defender and slotted past Dylan Doherty.
The same player then added a second when he broke through and chipped Doherty from the edge of the area.
