Jimmy Bruen and Pierce Purcell teams successfully completed their missions at regional qualifying over the last two Sundays.
Conor McGettigan led the Jimmy Bruen team at Dunfanaghy on Sunday 5th May, where they came through as second-placed qualifiers with an excellent 304 tally. Conor’s team will play Strabane GC next, back in Dunfanaghy.
On Sunday past, Daniel Shields oversaw a home success as Portsalon hosted the Pierce Purcell qualifier. His team did enough to claim third spot and will head to Barnhill in Letterkenny for their knockout match against Dunfanaghy GC.
Dates for both matches have yet to be confirmed, good luck to Conor, Daniel and their teams.
World Champion on the course
Portsalon was delighted this week to welcome former World Snooker champion John Parrott to the course for a round.
The likeable Liverpudlian was ‘King of the Crucible’ back in 1991, overcoming Jimmy White in the world final.
Now a much-respected BBC Snooker pundit, Parrott is enjoying his break after a hectic fortnight in Sheffield at this year’s World Championship came to a finish on the May Bank Holiday.
He enjoyed a sunny but breezy day on The Banks and is pictured here with Club Manager Daragh Lyons ahead of teeing-off.
