THE OLD adage about goals winning games certainly came true at Pairc Taobhouge today where Naomh Muire overcame Glenfin.

Ciaran Foy opened the scoring for Glenfin with a fine point from play before Shaun Yank Boyle equalised in the second minute.
Then came Naomh Muire’s first goal, a long ball into the Glenfin square and Daniel Devllin got his fist to it to put Naomh Muire in the.
Glenfin replied well and points from Paddy O’Connor, Daniel McGlynn, Frank McGlynn and two fine points from Jason Morrow put the home side two up after 15 minutes.
Harry Harden pulled one back for Naomh Muire before Kevin McGlynn restored Glenfin’s lead to two points again.
Shaun Yank Boyle scored two frees and a point from play from Patrick Gillespie put Naomh Muire back in the lead.
A second goal scored by full forward Patrick McCafferty put Naomh Muire four up at half time.
Glenfin got off to a good start in the second half. Points from Frank McGlynn and Paddy O’Connor pulled Liam Ward’s back to just two points.
However, Naomh Muire responded quickly and a brace of points from Harden restored their lead to four again.
Then in the 17th minute of the second half Naomh Muire score their third goal from Shaun Yank Boyle which killed the game off as a contest.
Glenfin tried hard but never could get that all important goal.
Two late points from Michael McGlynn and Jason Morrow pulled them close but not close enough.
