SHAY Given and Seamus Coleman have been named in Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland squad for next month’s qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia.
Veteran goalkeeper Given (pictured above)Â has confirmed that he will retire from international football at the end of the Euro 2016 campaign, but the Liffordman looks set to be O’Neill’s number 1 for then conclusion of the qualifiers.
Today’s provisional squad announcement sees the inclusion of Bournemouth’s Eunan O’Kane, who earns a first senior call-up and is joined by the uncapped duo of Brentford’s Alan Judge and Aberdeen’s Adam Rooney.
“These are two very important games in our qualifying campaign and we are looking forward to them,” O’Neill said.
“The players are all now back in action with their respective clubs and will be ready for these games.”
Given and Coleman are joined in the squad by Ciaran Clark, James McCarthy and Aiden McGeady, all of whom are Irish qualified through Donegal grandparents.
