GAOTH DOBHAIR will play Lavey from Derry in the final of the Ulster U-21 Football Tournament in two weeks’ time following their semi-final win over 13-man Carryduff from Down today.
Gaoth Dobhair 2-8 Carryduff 0-7
The side from Magheragallon had Eamonn Colum to thank for scoring both goals on the day at Kickhams Creggan GAA club in Antrim.
His first goal came after seven minutes, which enabled his team to take a three-point lead into half-time, 1-4 to 0-4. Pierce Laverty was given a straight red on 19 minutes for Carryduff for an off the ball incident.
With Cian Mulligan an absentee through injury, three Gavin McBride points and one from Naoise O’Baoill formed their interval total.
Gaoth Dobhair kept on the front foot after the break and Michael Carroll, Daire and Naoise O’Baoill and McBride adding his fourth point. Guinness, who scored all seven of the Carryduff points, was sent off late on for the beaten outfit.
A goal in injury time for Colum sealed the win to set up the final at the same venue on Sunday February 18, with Lavey having overcome Cavan’s Southern Gaels 3-7 to 0-9.
