The men from Magheragallon were three points up after nine minutes with Michael McKelvey, Kevin Cassidy and McBride all finding the range.

The home team’s first score came after 10 minutes from corner forward Tommy Hourihane. A McBride free put two between them again but then on 17 minutes Gaoth Dobhair had a major let off when Christopher Keaney won the ball brilliantly but with only ‘keeper Christopher Sweeney to beat he shot badly wide.
Bundoran did hit the next score from Michael McEniff but this was soon cancelled out by Odhrán MacNiallais and another quality strike from McKelvey. McBride hit another monster free on 25 minutes but this was almost immediately followed by MacNiallais getting a black card for dissent by match official Robbie O’Donnell.

He was soon followed by Bundoran’s Adam Brennan for a clumsy tackle. Then on the stroke of half-time McBride hit another fine free to leave the half-time score Bundoran 0-3 Gaoth Dobhair 0-8.
Only 30 seconds had elapsed of the second half when Cian Mulligan put his side further ahead although Keaney soon replied for the hosts.
Another McBride point this time from play and a great effort from Cassidy put seven between the sides.
A Hourihane free again reduced the deficit but on 40 minutes Gaoth Dobhair struck for their first goal a fantastic team effort which was clinically dispatched by McBride.
Hourihane again pointed for Bundoran from a free but once again McBride replied. The homeside then enjoyed a purple patch hitting three points from play from Keaney, Hourihane and Russell with Bundoran’s best player on the night Paul Brennan central to all three scores.

But this was as good as it got as Daire Ó Baoill ended the mini-comeback with a excellent effort. Jamie Brennan hit Bundoran’s final score of the game on 50 minutes.
It was the visitors who would finish the stronger with three further points from Michael Carroll McBride and Cassidy. Then as the game entered injury time Cassidy showed all his cuteness when he fisted to the net.
